April 2026 Tax Deadlines to Keep Your Business on Track

April brings a host of critical business tax deadlines. Staying ahead of these key dates is the best way to prevent unnecessary penalties. However, if you do miss a filing and find yourself facing IRS issues, stay optimistic. At IRS Tax Pros, we do not handle daily bookkeeping or accounting. Our sole focus is solving complex tax problems. As an Enrolled Agent, I have the authority to step in and resolve your tax challenges directly with the IRS.

April 15 Deadlines: C-Corps and Payroll

C-Corporations: File your 2025 calendar year income tax return (Form 1120) and pay any taxes owed. Need more time? Submit Form 7004 for a 6-month filing extension. This protects against late filing penalties, but not late payment penalties. Ensure you estimate and deposit your liability using the Form 7004 instructions. Additionally, your first 2026 estimated tax installment is due today.

Payroll and Non-Payroll Withholding: Under the monthly deposit rule, deposit your Social Security, Medicare, and withheld income taxes for March payments.

Organized desk representing tax preparation and planning

Fiduciary Returns: Timely file your 2025 calendar year fiduciary return (Form 1041 for Estates and Trusts) or request an extension.

April 30: Form 941 and Unemployment

Quarterly Payroll (Form 941): Employers must file Form 941 for the first quarter of 2026 and pay any undeposited taxes. If your liability is under $2,500, pay it in full with a timely return. If you already deposited taxes perfectly on time, your filing deadline is extended to May 11.

Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA): Deposit your tax owed through March if it exceeds $500.

Holidays and Disaster Area Relief

If a deadline lands on a weekend or legal holiday, it automatically extends to the next business day. Furthermore, businesses in federally declared disaster areas receive automatic IRS extensions. Check your eligibility here:

If a missed deadline triggers a penalty notice, contact Sharon Morgan. Let IRS Tax Pros resolve the issue so you can move forward with confidence.
